The Illinois Chiropractic Society understands the current challenges for our doctors and their practices. The number of changes that have happened and are coming in the next year are simply daunting: BCBS/Orthonet, NGS taking over Medicare in Illinois, HIPAA Omnibus Rule changes, Insurance Marketplace new offerings, other Affordable Care Act implementations, EHR deadlines, license renewals, CME deadline, and sweeping changes to diagnosis codes (ICD-10). The pace at which information is being published is almost too intense to conceive. Critical appraisal of the literature is a skill unto itself. It has been estimated that if an individual attempted to keep up with all the literature related to their own discipline by reading one article per day, by the end of one year he/she would be 99 years behind. The AHCPR guidelines; which were the first governmentally sanctioned review leading to the recognition of the value of high velocity, low amplitude procedures for acute, adult low back pain; located over 10,317 articles. When culled to the relevant ones for the task only 3,918 were left. So how do you select relevant literature for inclusion in a review process like that being attempted by CCGPP for Best Practices?

New Electronic Disability Parking Application/Recertification Process

As you are probably aware, chiropractic physicians are able to certify disability for parking placards on behalf of patients (more). Just this week, the Secretary of State (SoS) announced that previously issued disabled parking placards will be expiring throughout 2018 with notices being mailed now, and they have created a new online recertification process for chiropractic physicians and other health care providers.
